FNP Overview

This top-ranked Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) specialty within the Doctor of Nursing Practice program focuses on providing primary care services in the community to clients of all ages. This specialty strongly emphasizes the broad and comprehensive preparation necessary for primary care practice. As a student, you will gain clinical experience with a multicultural mix of clients from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds in diverse settings. You will have the opportunity to build an interest area through selection of electives and clinical placements. Many valuable resources will be available to you within our school, such as:

Graduates of the program have assumed leadership roles in practice, education, organizations, research, and policy development. Graduates are sought after in a wide variety of clinical settings because of their wide scope of practice.

The FNP program begins Summer Quarter. GEPN students finalize the pre-RN portion of their program during Summer Quarter as well. Therefore, GEPN-D students entering FNP will spend the rest of the school year working as an RN and completing theory courses until Summer Quarter the following year.
