Philosophy of Undergraduate Education
Approved in 1992 by UW Seattle Faculty and in 2000 by UW Tacoma Faculty
The educational philosophy of the undergraduate curriculum is grounded in the belief that teaching styles need to be a function of students' ways of learning. The overarching goal is to graduate nurses who have diverse repertoires of learning skills, clinical decision-making abilities and technical proficiency, as well as proven senses of personal resourcefulness and basic nursing competence. We expect such nurses to respond with care, holistically and with professional accountability to people whose own health or whose loved ones’ health and well-being are threatened or compromised.
